Newton Johnson Winery is a small cellar owned and managed by the Johnson family. It's near Hermanus, only an hour's drive from Cape Town and a popular tourist destination, famous for some of the most spectacular land-based whale watching in the world and also known for its bracing 'champagne' air, lush indigenous fynbos, mountain walks and mountain bike trails. The farm is situated some five km from the Atlantic Ocean at the top of the hidden Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, a bit of heaven on earth as its name implies, in the cool-climate Walker Bay appellation, perfect for growing grapes and rapidly being recognised as home to some of the Cape's finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Johnson's sea-breezed vineyards, close to the southern tip of Africa and over 200 metres above sea level, have been expanded by 40 hectares of new plantings.
